Main Metropolis Frankfurt

Frankfurt, the metropolis on the river Main, can be regarded as one of the most modern and most important cities in Germany, even in Europe. It has 660,000 inhabitants and is therefore the biggest city in Hesse and th5^t  biggest city in Germany. Frankfurt is especially known because of its economic and structural importance for Germany, for instance, Germany’s biggest stock exchange can be found here.

The European Central Bank, the most important financial actor on the continent, is also located here. The airport, one of the largest passenger and cargo airports worldwide, guarantees quick and easy access to Frankfurt, making the city with the prominent skyline the ideal host of numerous trade fairs. More than 40 trade fairs, many internationally renowned, are held here each year. In 2012, more than 1.5 million visitors attended a trade fair in Frankfurt. This continual influx of international business people creates a vibrant melting pot of new ideas and of multiple cultural backgrounds.

Frankfurt Airport is an important aviation hub, many passengers change flights here.

With its advanced technical equipment, the airport can coordinate all feeder flights, for example, the passengers of an Airbus A380 arrive at Frankfurt Airport via 60 to 80 feeder flights. There are 188 parking positions for large planes. In 2012, over 2 million tons of cargo passed through Frankfurt Airport. Passengers are transported by 107 airline companies which fly to 295 destinations, in the cargo sector, 27 airlines fly to 78 destinations. The owner of the airport, Fraport, develops the airport like a proper city district with shops, entertainment and extensive services. Customers can shop and dine in 60 shops and restaurants. Visitors, families and groups are invited to book a tour of the airport which lasts 45 minutes. Fraport states that its strategy is environmentally sustainable and that it works to check and improve air pollution and noise prevention.

The latter is very important to the local residents living on one of the approach corridors of Frankfurt Airport. A quiet location is also important for anybody renting furnished accommodation in Frankfurt and the apartment should be chosen carefully. The district of Griesheim is situated close to the airport and but it is not on one of the approach corridors. As a result, renting an apartment in this district of Frankfurt is a good choice.
